British citizens visiting BLiP over the weekend had the chance to meet the British Consul to the Algarve Clive Jewell, who was available to speak to them about the services provided by the Consulate in Portimão.
Clive Jewell, who took up his post 15 months ago, is keen to develop community outreach initiatives in the Algarve and BLiP was the perfect place for that with a constant flow of visitors finding their way to the Consulate’s centrally located stand.
The consular team was kept busy all weekend interacting with British residents and visitors to the Algarve and informing them of the services provided by the Consulate, such as issuing emergency travel documents, helping with information about transferring funds, providing support to victims of crime and detainees, as well as help in a range of other cases to do with welfare, child abduction and missing persons, among others.
Seminars to explain how the consular services can help British citizens were held on Saturday and Sunday, when Consul Clive Jewell presented case studies relating to detention, welfare and crisis management, and answered questions from the audience.
Having lived in the Algarve for 22 years and worked as a tour operator for 33 years throughout Europe, Clive Jewell has a wealth experience and knowledge that he can bring to his current position as Consul.
