He’s one of the biggest stars in the world with five albums under his belt, and you can’t turn on the radio without hearing one of his hits. So why has it taken so long for R&B superstar Ne-Yo to come to Portugal?
It was August 4 when the American singer/songwriter finally hit the stage on national soil (to the delight of his huge Portuguese fanbase), and his début couldn’t be any more show-stopping.
After all, this wasn’t only his first time in Portugal. It was also the 17th annual Pine Cliffs Resort Summer Gala, the biggest to date, with more than 2,000 people heading to the five-star Sheraton Algarve Hotel & Pine Cliffs Resort in Albufeira on Sunday night.
Across the rolling lawns of the Pine Cliffs Golf Academy, the stage was set for a glamorous and truly unforgettable evening.
Engaging and energetic, it was a performance that many won’t forget any time soon.
After the customary fireworks, the party continued until the early hours of the morning at the resort’s Japanese restaurant Yakuza, with Ne-Yo himself making an appearance.
Currently on the last few legs of promotion for R.E.D., his latest album, Ne-Yo is already in the studio working on his sixth album, which will see a return to his R&B roots.
So, after his first time in Portugal, when can we expect him back? He smiles: “As soon as humanly possible.”
