Singapore Airlines’ new Super Jumbo has been hailed a success after the first flight from Singapore.
The Airbus A380 landed safely in Sydney, Australia, where the airport has spent millions in order to accommodate the new plane, constructing new bridges and other facilities.
The plane took off on October 25 with 445 passengers aboard who were treated to champagne once the jet was airborne.
The jet, which is as high as a seven-storey-building, is the biggest passenger airliner ever built with seating for 525 people in three classes and a wingspan the size of a soccer pitch. Alternatively the plane can carry 853 passengers in economy-only seating.
In total, 17 airlines have already ordered A380s including Richard Branson’s Virgin Airways.
