IF YOU’VE been searching for that perfect place for lunch, dinner or just a spot for a drink, look no further… Island Café in Sesmarias near Carvoeiro is the ideal spot to wile away your time.
Opened at the Presa da Moura complex last July, Island Café offers its diners a genuine American dining experience, with the delicious menu options being prepared by their very own chef from Arizona, Christopher Moore.
The restaurant is so-named due to its location on an ‘island’ surrounded by a road at the entrance to the Presa da Moura complex. The menu features all kinds of mouth watering dishes including wings, ribs, homemade burgers – a speciality – crab cakes and healthy salads.
All main courses offer the choice of fries, salad or, unusually, fruit: “We wanted to offer fruit as a great healthy option, particularly for kids,” says Angela Roberts, whose husband, Graham, built the development.
Every day there are daily specials, and at lunch times there is the perfect option for busy businesspeople, ‘A Cup and a Half’ – a bowl of hot home-made soup followed by half an American sandwich, which is quite large, for seven euros.
With many local business men and women now choosing the Island Café for a spot of lunch and relaxing, it can also be a great place for a spot of networking. However, if you are unable to eat in, a take away service is available – anything on the menu can be ready to be picked up within 20 minutes.
In the warmer summer months, there will be music nights on Tuesdays and there is a large TV screen which shows sporting events. Open from midday to last orders at 9.30pm, The Island Café serves meals throughout the day.
