The gardens of Pompeii and Herculaneum

Herculaneum, near Pompeii, was probably founded by the Etruscans and was inhabited by ‘a more cultured, refined and intellectual class of people than nearby Pompeii’.

Geoffrey Toms, who is a classical historian and former Head of Education at the Museum of London, will be speaking to the Algarve Archaeological Association about Herculaneum and Pompeii gardens and archaeology.

Toms’ presentation is on December 7 at the Biblioteca Municipal in Loulé at 2.30pm, and the Convento São José in Lagoa at 6.30pm. Non members will be welcome for a fee of 5 euros.
