The fantastic four

THE ‘4Fs’ – Fotografia, Ferro, Figueiredo and Floriano – photographic exhibition by a group of local artists will be open to the public from February 23 until March 20 at the RefCafé in Tavira’s Rua Gonçalo Velho. The artists exhibiting their work are Paula Ferro, António Figueiredo and Floriano Palito.

Paula discovered her passion for photography when she was 12-years-old and, by 16, she had learnt to develop her own black and white pictures. At present, she is particularly keen on digital photography and her latest work can be seen at two other exhibitions currently taking place in Tavira.

António’s interest in photography started in the early 80s and, by the early 90s, he too began developing his own black and white pictures. In 1991, he took part in a collective exhibition for the United Nations Artists Against Aids in Geneva.

Finally, Floriano, born in Almada (south of Lisbon), is a secondary school teacher. Although a hobby, he takes photography extremely seriously. He also enjoys filmmaking and last year co-directed a short film, entitled O Cesto (The Basket).

Organisers of the event are donating 20 per cent of the sales proceeds to a centre for the handicapped, run by the Irene Rolo Foundation, a charity based in Tavira.
