Eduardo Oliveira Costa is a journalist and publisher of several newspapers across Portugal. He is on the board of several organisations, is president of a football club, and has a keen interest in the press, among other media, and the business environment.
A NEW statistic has emerged confirming that not all famous jokes about people from the Alentejo are wrong as they (and the Algarveans) are the ones who spend the most time in the shower.
This one isn’t funny now: we are talking about wasting water and other resources, which cost us so much!
I empathise with the people from the Alentejo. Not least because of the good that runs through their veins. So much so that they find the jokes that we invent about them funny, especially the more typical ones about their slow actions and reactions.
But, where have we come to? Our dear friends from the Alentejo and all of the Portuguese can’t even spend a little time in the shower, taking care of their personal hygiene, without a statistic finding out!
That same statistic could see things from a different angle; the people from the Alentejo and the Algarve take more care in their personal hygiene than the rest of the Portuguese!
Do you know what I think? It’s better to wash too often than not enough.
The people from the Alentejo are even consistent with this – as they have the fame (for being slow), they also have the benefits (long showers)!
