This month, Vilamoura will host the world’s biggest JCB conference. From January 16 to February 4, the British company, JCB Training, along with Motivo, the company which sells JCB’s in Portugal, will stage the event in the Algarve. The conference aims to develop the company’s distribution network, while displaying a range of compact and medium machines. Approximately 700 people from across the world are expected to take part in the conference, where they will be able to see JCBs and other brands of mobile excavators in action, and learn how to ‘sell the difference’.
According to JCB Training, Vilamoura was chosen as the venue for the conference because of its prime location, the quality and competitiveness of its hotels and, last but not least, the Algarve’s sunny climate. Vilamoura was selected over Jerez in Spain, where the 2003 JCB Heavy Range conference was held last year. With more than 400 distributors worldwide, JCB exports more than 70 per cent of its products to all corners of the globe. Named after Joseph Cyril Bamford, the British manufacturer, JCB has been in business for more than 50 years and opened its distribution centre in Portugal with Motivo in the 1980s.
