While the peak summer season may be over, there is still plenty to enjoy from an Algarve holiday as autumn approaches. It seems an Indian summer is on the cards for many countries, though we feel there is no better place to enjoy the late-summer sun than the Algarve.
Our team put a lot of focus into these ‘shoulder seasons’ so that our owner partners can maximise their occupancy and have more guests enjoying their property all year round.
The benefits of an autumn holiday
With a school half-term in October, many guests (particularly in the UK and Ireland) have a great opportunity for a breather in between a busy summer and the Christmas season. As expected, the weather won’t reach the heights of July and August. However, the cooler weather will not impede a family outing. In fact, it will likely make it more pleasant for those with smaller children.
It may be a new season, but it’s the same Algarve. The gorgeous beaches will offer more tranquillity, while tourists can also secure a table at some of the most popular restaurants in the Golden Triangle. It will certainly be hard to pick where to enjoy delicious culinary delights. Piri Piri D’Almancil is a firm favourite for the SandyBlue team!
Of course, having accommodating features at the villas helps too! With heated pools, games rooms, TV rooms and so much more, there is plenty to do for a family day spent at the villa.
SandyBlue’s favourite autumn activities
Our team are Algarve experts and enjoy many activities. In the autumn months, there are a number of things our team recommends. Perhaps the most popular among the team is a day on one of the islands, particularly Armona, Culatra or Farol. It’s a perfect way to explore the many hidden gems of the region.
Due to the cooler weather, the outdoor activities will be more comfortable. So, a long stroll around the Ria Formosa is a must. For more culture and history, you can enjoy a train ride to Praia do Barril or explore the Silves castle. If it’s fun for the whole family, a round of mini-golf at the Family Golf Park in Vilamoura is a huge hit with the children and the adults.
For a little excitement, DirtEbikers offers adventure in abundance. Offering a trail ride to explore the hidden paths of the Algarve, the professional instructors have made it an accessible day out for experienced riders and novices alike.
An eventful visit no matter the time of year
As we continue to attract guests for summer 2024, the increased interest in autumn getaways cannot be ignored. So, we adapt our strategy to continuously inform guests of the fun they can encounter throughout the whole year, not just the peak summer months.
