Richard Chambers and Sérgio Pereira decided to combine their wealth of experience, built up over decades in the real estate industry, to form APS after Sérgio sold Richard and his wife Claire a property in Praia da Luz.
Richard, who runs an established firm of estate agents in the UK with 25 employees, and Sérgio, a well-respected local agent, hit it off straight away. The two found they had a lot in common and shared similar views on what they thought should be the minimum standards offered to clients by their industry.
APS is predominantly aimed at the British buyer seeking a property in the Algarve, who wants to deal with a compatriot with inside local knowledge. Richard explained: “It is a daunting prospect for many buyers when they first consider buying a property abroad, especially if they do not speak the language.”
APS has been set up to overcome this hurdle. When a client first registers their requirements with APS, they have access to a member of the team who is available to tailor a service to the client’s individual requirements.
Sérgio added: “Our British employees are in a position to answer not only general questions to do with location, property condition, and so on, but have the back up of their Portuguese colleagues for more technical information when required.”
