The Algarveans need talent

The Algarveans Experimental Theatre Group is searching for talent both on and off the stage to join their growing drama group.

Fresh from their box office success with Calendar Girls, their next production will be How the Other Half Loves, one of Alan Ayckbourn’s best comedies. It involves three married couples linked by the work of the husbands.

Frank and his wife Fiona are at the top of the social ladder. The second couple are on the way up, Bob being the office Romeo though rather a boor, while his wife with a baby to look after is a complete slob. The third couple are an accountant, William, awkward and uncertain, and his nervous young wife Mary.

The action takes place at two dinner parties given on consecutive nights, with the two events taking place simultaneously with hilarious consequences.

Each production involves manypeople and The Algarveans are looking for new members to join them not only for this show but for the other social activities they hold each year, such as quizzes, dinners, treasure hunts and this year also a garden fete!

Their next show will have its run in November. The director, David Butler-Cole, is holding auditions on Tuesday August 27, starting at 7.30pm to be held at the Lagoa Bombeiros.

There will be a lot of Algarveans in attendance who would love to tell you more about the group and hopefully inspire you to get involved.

If you cannot make that evening but would like to audition, please contact David Butler-Cole on 282 330 242 or 968 335 856.

If you would like to know more about being a member of the Algarveans, call the membership secretary Jan Sheppeard on 913 723 611.
