With the effects of the coronavirus being felt across all sectors of the economy, the restaurant industry is certainly one of the most affected as virus-containment measures imposed by the government such as lockdowns, quarantines and curfews have pushed people to stay at home and hold back on their spending, leading to significant drops in restaurant reservations and revenue.
Despite feelings of uncertainty about the future, this festive season is seen by restaurateurs as an opportunity to recoup some of the losses felt since the beginning of the pandemic.
Thus, the Algarve Resident has offered restaurants and establishments serving food over Christmas and New Year the opportunity to be included in our Festive Dining Guide, completely free of charge.
We are committed to supporting businesses in the Algarve in these difficult times and this is our way of saying, “we’re all in this together”.
Since we launched this idea in November, we have been overwhelmed by the response from restaurant owners and managers who wanted to take up this opportunity but felt hesitant about the future.
Understandably, nobody knows what/if further restrictions will be in place over Christmas/New Year, hence the inclusion of a disclaimer advising people to contact the restaurant of their choice closer to the time to confirm availability, as opening hours and dates may change.
The guide is published both in print in the Algarve Resident and online on portugalresident.com reaching hundreds of thousands of potential customers.
