The Algarve Fish Book launch

news: The Algarve Fish Book launch

LONG AWAITED by the English speaking resident community, Nico Böer and Andrea Siebert of Edition MARISOL launched the English edition of their award winning The Algarve Fish Book recently, in the presence of more than 60 guests.

The event was held in the old oil mill (Lagar) of Horta do Félix, in the beautiful surroundings of Detlef von Rosen’s plant nursery Viveiros Monterosa in Moncarapacho. The Swedish-German journalist Barbara Fellgiebel hosted the launch and introduced the book and the authors.

A multinational audience of interested readers, residents, journalists, chefs and local entrepreneurs joined in the party. A cold buffet was prepared by Monika Wildenburg and Nikki Stavenhagen of BURG+HAGEN Catering and, while the food was being served, the authors were busy signing copies of their book and answering every possible question.

The Algarve Fish Book is based on a first edition in German, which won the Gourmand World Cook Book Award 2004 as the best German fish and seafood cook book, ranking within the four Best in the World in its category.

As a culinary guide to southern Portugal’s fish cuisine, the book not only presents readers with the hundred most common species of fish and seafood on display at Algarvean markets, but also takes a look at local fishing and cooking traditions.

Today (Friday), there will be an English-Portuguese presentation of the book at the Fnac store in Algarveshopping in Guia (Albufeira) and, on September 12, there will be an author’s reading in German at Capela das Artes in Alcantarilha.

The Algarve Fish Book is on sale all over the Algarve. A detailed list of the points of sale is available on www.thealgarvefishbook.com. The book can also be ordered online and there you will find additional information such as reviews, news and extracts for download.
