Dear Editor,
I would like you to convey our thanks to staff at Faro airport in helping us to catch our flight back to Scotland last Thursday after a lovely three weeks at our property at Clube Atlantico in Carvoeiro.
Having been seriously delayed at our car hire company, Interent, part of Europcar, on returning our car to their understaffed depot, we arrived back at the airport to find the security area mobbed with people and a queue well outside the area.
However, when we finally managed to get to the security area, a very helpful member of staff, who was checking everyone’s boarding cards at the entrance, signalled us to go off to the left and enter it from another entrance.
On arrival there, another helpful member of staff signalled us to another entrance which turned out to be a direct route to the security check people with no queue.
Had it not been for their help and recognising our predicament, we would not have managed to clear the security area before our flight took off!
The moral of this story is to make sure the car hire company you select definitely operates from within the airport compound and does not have the need to shuttle bus you to and from their depot outside the airport compound.
Finally, having said that, don’t believe everything you see on the car hire company’s website, particularly if they show a symbol saying that a shuttle bus is not required to get you to and from the car pick up area, as it is not necessarily true.
