A BRITISH doctor working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo saved the life of a boy using text instructions sent by a colleague.
The 16 year old required an immediate amputation of his left arm after it had been ripped off then became infected and gangrenous.
David Nott, from London, had never performed an amputation before but followed step by step instructions via text message from Professor Meirion Thomas at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital.
The operation was a complete success and the boy has now made a complete recovery.
