Despite the bad weather, the Algarve Ukulele Band performed to a full house on May 7 at the Casa do Povo in Moncarapacho.
Howard Scott Parkin, the band leader, said: “We were amazed that people went out to see the show on such a bad night.”
Ninety percent of the takings went back to the local community and the Salvation Army.
“The place was rocking with dance music from this unique 19-piece band, all playing a variety of instruments, besides ukuleles,” said Howard. “It was also exciting to have the addition of two great new banjo players.”
The band is now looking for a violin player.
