Tender to open for 200 new GPs in Lisbon/ Vale do Tejo

Admitting that the problems of Portugal’s State health service are still a long way from being resolved, health minister Manuel Pizarro is nonetheless moving forwards with measures, including the hiring of family doctors in the Lisbon/ Vale do Tejo region. A tender is due to open in 2023, focusing on attracting 200 new doctors to the service. Speaking to a parliamentary commission, the minister added that his department is working on plans for three regions of the country “with greatest difficulties” (Lisbon/ VdT, the Alentejo and the Algarve), and hopes to make consequent announcements in the next few weeks.
