Ten year celebrations

PORTUGUESE BANDS Terrakota and Blasted Mechanism are headlining Loulé’s Academic Week, a week long party organised by university students, taking place at the Parque Municipal from April 24 to April 28.

Terrakota, a Portuguese afro beat and reggae band making waves on both sides of the Atlantic, have been given the main slot on the night of the April 25 celebrations and are expected to draw a large audience.

The main attraction of the week is planned for the Saturday night (April 28), which is also the 10th anniversary of the Loulé student association. To commemorate the landmark year, the kings of Portuguese alternative rock, Blasted Mechanism, will take the stage.

The câmara has helped fund the week at a cost of 50,000 euros. It is hoped more than 6,000 students will participate in the festivities.
