As the future of Portugal Telecom is widely discussed in the press, 44 workers in Beja have been between a rock and a hard place.
Their premises were overrun with headlice, but if that was not bad enough, the chemical used to cleanse the workplace resulted in widespread intoxications.
All those affected were treated in hospital.
