An 18-year-old Ukrainian was seriously injured after falling 10 metres from a cliff near Praia da Rocha’s famous bars avenue in the early hours of Sunday morning (November 29).
The accident happened on the infamous wall behind the bars, which young party-goers often climb even though it lacks fencing and is located right on the edge of the cliff.
According to national tabloid Correio da Manhã, the teenager was walking on the wall when he fell, sustaining “several injuries”. He was unconscious when rescue services got to him and was only identified back at the hospital when he regained consciousness.
CM points out it is the latest of several plunges that happened in the area recently.
In July, a 19-year-old was also seriously injured after falling from the cliff under similar circumstances (see Praia da Rocha late-night revelry leads to (yet another) cliff fall).
A month earlier, an English teenager also fell from the cliff and allegedly returned to Praia da Rocha to continue drinking after being released from hospital (see Drunk English teenager rescued from Praia da Rocha cliff fall “runs away from hospital to carry on drinking)
