A 16-year-old girl reported missing by authorities in France two years ago has been found in the company of a 29-year-old man in Vilar Formoso, Almeida, on the border with Spain.
According to Guarda GNR, the teen was “localised by agents after they cross-checked the couple’s documents.
The man she was with was also discovered to be in “an illegal situation on national territory”.
The pair were detained and it seems likely the girl will be returned to an institution. Reports say she was in an institution when she went missing “about two years ago”.
The man meantime, said to have convictions for theft, violence and sexual assaults, is to be held pending extradition from the Schengen space, says TVI24.
