A 17-year-old young girl was killed in a motorbike accident near the João de Deus secondary school in Faro on Thursday afternoon, PSP police have confirmed.
The tragic crash occurred at around 3.30pm when the driver of the motorbike, a 22-year-old man, attempted a ‘wheelie’ (lifting the front of the motorbike while continuing to drive) on the 5 de Outubro avenue.
However, the driver lost control of the bike and crashed into the road’s median strip, causing the teen girl who was travelling as a passenger to hit a light pole.
The horrific accident led to a “large concentration of people” who were dispersed from the scene, PSP police added.
No word has been mentioned about the condition of the driver of the motorbike.
