PORTUGAL CAME seventh in the 2007 European table of countries that made most progress in terms of technological innovation.
But despite making significant advances, Portugal, according to the European Innovation Initiative Ranking, is part of a group of European countries that are the most backward when it comes to innovation.
The statistics were collected for the EU by the European Innovation Scoreboard which put Portugal in seventh place among countries that had made the most improvements in 2007.
