Teachers strike: still no joy

As expected, proposals presented yesterday by the ministry of education have failed to signal positive results in the ongoing teachers’ strikes. Further meetings are scheduled tomorrow (Friday) and next Thursday. Education minister João Costa cited a legal opinion in which he said the strike actions of S.T.O.P particularly are illegal. S.T.O.P has said its lawyers are now studying the opinion, but for the time being, the union is unconvinced.
