Teachers learn about pension rights

news: Teachers learn about pension rights

TEACHERS FROM St. Julian’s and St. Dominic’s international schools attended a meeting last week at St. Julian’s School to hear one of The Resident’s contributors, Pedro Simões (pictured), a tax and accountancy consultant, give a talk on pension rights for teaching staff. The eye-opener address gave the private school teachers an insight into the specific needs of the teaching staff here in Portugal and how they stand with regard to a secure pension upon retirement. To attain a maximum pension on retirement, a teacher would need to have been employed as a teacher in Portugal for 36 years and be 60 years of age. The event was organised by Caz Regan and the Teachers Association of St Julian’s. For more information, contact Pedro Simões via email at [email protected]
