Tavira Sea Food Festival showcases flavours of the Algarve coast

From April 28 to May 28, visitors will have the opportunity to taste tuna, octopus, razor clams, anchovies, squid and more in 27 participating restaurants.

The Festival de Gastronomia do Mar (Festival of Sea Gastronomy), which takes place in Tavira from April 28 to May 28. The annual event promises to highlight the flavours of the coast on the menus of the 27 Tavira restaurants joining this year’s edition of the event.

Tuna, octopus, razor clams, anchovies and squid are some of the ingredients that, together with regional wines and sweets, will be highlighted to celebrate Mediterranean lifestyle. Flavourful specialties, honed by generations and traditions, enhanced by fresh, seasonal produce await visitors in Tavira during the month-long event.

“The recognition of traditional cuisine, characteristic of the Mediterranean Diet as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco classification, in line with the wisdom and mastery of chefs and cooks define this Festival”, says the organisation.

Visitors who try three of the participating restaurants will be entered in a special prize draw.
