Tavira reorganises environmental services

A NEW public-private partnership, known as Empresa Municipal de Ambiente – Tavira Verde (Municipal Environmental Organisation – Green Tavira), is now fully operational. The new company is responsible for various basic sanitation procedures in the borough, including water treatment, drains and the cleaning of streets and public areas. There are four shareholders in the new company –Tavira Câmara (51 per cent), the AGS company (32 per cent), HIDURBE (12 per cent) and Agência de Desenvolvimento de Tavira (five per cent). In addition to this new entity, Tavira Câmara is also setting up a forestry office (Gabinete Técnico Florestal) in order to give the required attention to the areas devastated by the fires last summer.
