Tavira mayor to meet with citizens of every parish

“Proximity with citizens is fundamental,” says Tavira’s town council

In a bid to “strengthen proximity and active citizenship,” Tavira mayor Ana Paula Martins will be visiting every parish in the borough to “listen to the population” and learn about its “daily challenges”.

The mayor will begin each visit with a tour of the parish, in which there will be an “open forum for dialogue,” the council says.

“Then, from 4pm to 6pm, citizens who have booked in advance ([email protected]) will be heard individually,” it adds.

The first event will take place on Thursday, January 26 in Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, followed by events in Luz de Tavira e Santo Estêvão (February 23), Santa Luzia (March 30), Cachopo (April 27), Conceição e Cabanas (May 25), and Tavira (June 29).

“Public participation contributes to a more democratic decision-making process. Proximity is fundamental in this process and allows for improved communication with citizens,” the local authority says.
