A €2.5 million pier is to be built on Tavira Island, which welcomes thousands of holidaymakers every summer.
Half of the investment will be covered by Sociedade Polis Ria Formosa, with Tavira council and fishing authority Docapesca paying for the rest.
As Polis explains, the current rundown pier will be completely removed as it is beyond repair.
