Tavira council fixes road to Cachopo

Tavira council has announced that improvements to the EM397 road – which links the town to the small village of Cachopo and is notorious for being poorly signaled and dangerously uneven – will begin on October 5.

The renovation will cost nearly €290,000, take seven months to complete and be carried out by construction company José de Sousa Barra & Filhos.

As the council explains, the bulk of the work will focus on setting up traffic signs and line marking as well as improving the stability of the road – especially at kilometre 36, near Sítio da Picota, where the uneven surface is most noticeable.

The council also says it will carry out renovations at the Água de Fusos picnic park, which was devastated by fire in 2012.
