A total of 65 members of the Algarve Wine Society and their guests attended a tasting and dinner held at the Dona Filipa & San Lorenzo Golf Resort, in Vale do Lobo, on January 18.
The wines for the tasting were supplied by well known winery Herdade do Esporão and tasting presenter was their winemaker Sandra Alves, who treated guests to a number of the winery’s varietals, plus their flagship wine Private Selection 2008.
For dinner, the society enjoyed a further two wines to match the menu.
This was the first event of a full calendar for 2012. On February 18, the Society celebrates their Annual General Meeting at the Vila Vita Parc Hotel in Porches. The AGM will be followed by the traditional Gala black tie dinner-dance, the most important social event of the Society’s year.
On March 14, there will be a lunchtime tasting of port wines at the catering college in Faro.
In April, there will be the annual gourmet dinner, and a group of 40 intrepid members will be going to the Bordeaux wine region in early May.
