Unfortunately, Jimmy Tarbuck was unable to get to Boavista to play in the second tournament fought out under his name. The comedian presented the trophy to the Boavista members after he enjoyed playing the course on his initial visit. Although the morning was overcast, conditions were far better than for the inaugural tournament last year, when strong winds and heavy showers disrupted play to such a degree that almost half the field failed to complete their rounds.
This change was reflected in the scoring, which saw the 2004 winner score nine more points than last year’s winner! To make up for their absence on the day, Jimmy and his wife Pauline agreed to play with the lady and gent winners on the following Sunday and it was at this event that the ‘official’ presentation of the trophy took place.
