TAP strike averted: unions and management reach new agreement

The ‘crippling’ week-long strike looming at TAP has been averted as cabin crew syndicate SNPVAC has reached key agreements with management. Principal ‘victories’, explain reports, have been the ‘unfreezing’ of career advancement, the end of cuts to supplementary pay, and the return of an extra crew member on medium haul flights. TAP has described the outcome as leading “to a new stage in the life of TAP… in the search for a balance that allows compliance with the terms of the restructuring plan” in place ahead of the government’s focus on trying to re-privatise the airline, as soon as possible.
