TAP reschedules 50 flights due to widespread strike

Portuguese airline company TAP is rescheduling 50 of tomorrow’s (January 29) flights due to an air-traffic controllers’ strike which is expected to affect flights throughout Europe.
Some flights have been cancelled, but most were either brought forward or delayed and passengers have already been informed, says the company.
The changes were prompted by a European air-traffic controllers strike, which will be taking place between 7am and 9am, and later between 2pm and 4pm.
It is being led by the Air Traffic Controllers European Unions Coordination, which claims EU plans for a “single European sky” will “lead unequivocally to the worsening of labour and social conditions, and consequently put the entire safety chain and service quality at risk”.
If the “single European sky” proposal is accepted, national boundaries would be removed and air-traffic controllers would see job opportunities decrease, says the union.
