Tiago Faria Lopes, leader of tCivil Aviation Pilots Union SPAC, has called the €5.9 million claimed by former TAP CEO Christine Ourmières-Widener in her case against the company for unfair dismissal “unbelievable”. “Of course, it wasn’t the right way (to sack her), but Christine’s track record in running TAP was completely disastrous and damaging,” he told Lusa news agency. “If we analyse Christine’s year and a half (of management), we’ll probably find that she’s the one who should pay compensation to Portuguese taxpayers, because TAP lost a year and a half in the recovery from Covid in relation to its competitors”.
