The enormous embarrassment over the concerted ‘hack’ of TAP’s internal IT system has, it now transpires, led to personal data of the President of the Republic, the prime minister and numerous other ‘major movers and shakers’ in the country being exposed on the dark web. Bit by bit the extent of this hack in August is leaking out – with very little in print to show the Public Ministry/ PJ police and national centre for Cybersecurity are in any way close to sorting it out. Says Expresso today, data ran to the home address, telephone number and email address of the head of Portugal’s secret services Neiva da Cruz; and similar details on President Marcelo, the prime minister and many others. Marcelo has said that he has since changed his email address, but that everything else exfiltrated was already in the public domain.
