TAP flight to London cut short due to “strange smell”

A TAP flight from Lisbon to London returned to Portela airport yesterday (November 18), 25 minutes after taking off, due to a “strange smell” detected on board, the airline revealed.

At a time when nobody is taking any chances due to last week’s terrorist attacks in Paris, the captain decided to turn back as a precautionary measure.

The Airbus 320 plane, with 148 people onboard, left Lisbon at 10.45am, and 25 minutes later was landing again at the capital’s airport.

Passengers boarded another plane to London at 1pm, while the affected aircraft will undergo an inspection to determine the origin of the smell.
