TAP accused of owing crews more than €12 million

With the management versus worker ding-dong continuing at embattled airline TAP, cabin crew syndicate SNPVAC has accused the company of owing its members “more than €12 million”. The latest round of recrimination follows hand-wringing, by both TAP management and the political leader in Madeira, that the strike called for December 8 and 9 will cost the airline ‘at least €8 million’. TAP has already cancelled 360 flights booked on those days, seeing Madeira’s regional president Miguel Albuquerque describe the situation as “a disaster”, bearing in mind passengers have a broad choice of other airlines to use to visit the archipelago, and will come to realise that they don’t need TAP.
