Talk: an evening with Paul Rees

The next Algarve History Association event will be a talk by Algarve resident Paul Rees, founder of ‘algarvedailynews’, this Friday, August 1 at Bela Romão Croquet Club, near Olhão, from 7pm.
Born in London, brought up in Surrey, Paul Rees studied marketing at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, worked in various marketing positions and has been a tireless fundraiser for various charities.
He has lived variously in London, Sussex, Berkshire, Surrey, Argyllshire, Pembrokeshire, and Northamptonshire. He was in Portugal for two years in the mid-80s and again full time from 2003, building family-sized villas and involved in other property development and business interests including the ‘algarvedailynews’ website.
He has found a quiet home with his wife and rescue dog in the hubbub of Olhão, whereas his two daughters now live in the UK and Denmark. Interests include witnessing the Algarve’s resurgence, and collecting antique barometers. His mission is to highlight corruption and stupidity in Portugal and to remain unexpelled.
Paul is a quirky, forthright and amusing storyteller and his evening promises to be very entertaining.
Price is €5 for non members or free if dinner is booked.
