Thank you for keeping us updated by publishing stories about actions against crime being taken by local residents in the Algarve.
As a mother and an owner of a real estate agency, I am also afraid of the rising crime in the Algarve and the disastrous consequences this will have on the local economy if things don’t change fast.
I have recently spoken to judges, lawyers and police officers and they all state the same and that is that the Penal Code should be changed and fast as the system is protecting the offenders.
Burglary is considered a minor offence and don’t they know it. I personally know of a (not very good) burglar who has been caught over four times and each time has been released only to go straight back to crime.
