Syndicates continue fight against plan for collective dismissals by Altice

On a collision course with the government over what the company sees as the executive’s sloth and bureaucracy in implementing 5G, Altice Portugal appears to be forging ahead with what it describes as the “difficult decision” to dismiss over 200 employees “due to the very adverse context in which the electronic communications sector is experiencing”. Syndicates however are demanding government intervention. A new protest has been scheduled for this cokming Friday, with protestors insisting that if Altice does indeed continue down this path, it should be denied access to any funds for the telecommunications sector available in the national Plan for Recovery and Resilience (the EU funded ‘bazooka’).
