Several exhibitors completely sold out their products
Lagoa played host to a delectable extravaganza that left thousands of visitors with sweet, sweet memories.
The town’s 19th Conventual Sweets Show (Mostra do Doce Conventual) was held from August 31 to September 3, showcasing the finest traditional Portuguese confectionery.
According to organisers, the event was such as success that many exhibitors’ mouthwatering sweets sold out, leaving them with nearly nothing left to sell on the show’s final day.
In total, Lagoa welcomed 24 confectionery exhibitors from several regions across the country, spanning Rio Caldo in Gerês to the sunny Algarve coast. Additionally, 22 craft exhibitors and 5 gastronomy exhibitors also took part in the festivities.
Beyond savouring the sweet culinary delights that Portugal has to offer, visitors had the chance to explore a unique exhibition by Ana Remígio, entitled ‘The Fantastic World of ANART’, which featured the intricate cake art that the local artist is known for and which has earned her several international accolades.
The event also provided yet another opportunity to promote the beloved ‘Florados de Lagoa,’ a sweet for which the original recipe was only recently recovered.
