I read with horror an article about the local estate agents’ enthusiasm for the possible development by Sven Goran Erikkson and the benefits to the Western Algarve.
I may be biased, as the proposed project is on my doorstep, and will turn our beautiful countryside into a land of football pitches and housing estates. But, do we not, here in the Western Algarve, boast of this wonderful unspoilt countryside as being the very reason we live here?
If this project is approved by all the necessary authorities, this area will become yet another concrete jungle with no stopping the developers building on every hill and valley, from Lagos to Aljezur and all across the hinterland.
Who will benefit apart from the estate agents? It surely won’t be the people who live here!
