A taste of combat on February 21 at 2Passos, Almancil.
Following on from its first successful event last year and ahead of its next regional tournament in Porto, SushiBattle is hosting a special edition challenge – “a one-off, head-to-head battle” pitting first regional champion Tiago Torres, from SushiPearl (Faro), against renowned guest chef Maurilio Araujo, travelling all the way from Napoli, Italy.
The challenge will take place on Thursday, February 21 at the beachfront 2Passos restaurant where the chefs will prepare signature sushi live, “in a spectacular celebration of local seafood and sushi artistry where each guest and an expert jury panel will cast their vote to decide who will emerge victorious”.
Each contestant will prepare dishes that reflect themselves, their cuisine and their restaurant, presenting their sushi to be scrutinised for taste, presentation and creativity by the live audience and a jury panel comprised of Miguel Bértolo, winner of the silver award at the 2017 Sushi World Cup in Tokyo, Gonçalo Coelho from event sponsor Keta-Foods and SushiBattle veteran Naldo Gonçalves from Club-Nau.
The sushi courses will be served to guests in the indoor dining area.
Doors open at 6.30pm with mixologist Jorge Coelho preparing themed cocktails sponsored by Roku Gin and Nikka Whisky. Appetisers and desserts are sponsored by 2Passos.
Cost per person is €85.
