Members of the Algarve Wine Society (AWS) travelled to south of Beja in the Alentejo for a trip to the Herdade de Mingorra.
While the trip was deemed a success, the members were taken by surprise during lunch when a small tornado interrupted proceedings.
More than 40 members of the AWS met with the owners of the Herdade, Henrique and Isabel Uva and learnt about the Alfaraz extra virgin olive oil and the wines produced at the estate including the Calatrava available from Makro and the Monte dos Pegos from Pingo Doce.
Wine tastings included two white wines, a rose and four reds followed by a lunch of traditional Alentejo food and wine, which was only briefly interrupted by the mini tornado!
The next event from the AWS will take place on October 19 at the Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort Hotel & Spa in Albufeira with tastings presented by Peter Bright including wines of Terras de Alter.
