It’s another ‘week to forget’ for SNS health service patients as today and Wednesday sees a second stoppage by nurses following the industrial action of last week. “Services most affected”, according to nurses union SEP, are programmed surgeries – the operations so many people wait miserable years for – and nursing consultations. Minimum services are to be adhered to, but in reality it does not translate into relief for patients. Some hospitals are reporting 100% of nurses are backing the strike; others have slightly less following the union call. The strike centres on long-held pay and conditions grievances.
