Surfer rescued from rip current in Sagres

A 30-year-old Finnish surfer was rescued after she got caught in a rip current at Praia do Tonel in Sagres (Vila do Bispo) on Monday afternoon.

Authorities were alerted at 2.30pm and immediately dispatched a rescue team from Lagos maritime police and the Sagres lifeboat station.

The woman was successfully removed from the water and “showed some signs of fatigue” despite being unharmed. She received medical assistance at Baleeira port.
