FLIC’s Summer Surf party held at Tia Raquel’s near Messines recently was hailed a success by organisers, with participants wearing their “loudest and most garish shorts and shirts” and boogying to the music by Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys.
The event raised more than €400 in aid of Silves-based charity Castelo dos Sonhos, which helps underprivileged families across the Algarve.
A spokesman for the charitable group said: “FLIC does not give the cash to the charities. We use our buying power to get what they want, so with the money raised we will buy food for their food kitchen and food items to be distributed to the local people, who are struggling to afford even the most basic food stuff such as rice and beans.”
Members of FLIC (Fund Raising for Local Identified Causes) thanked everyone for their continued support.
