Support Pêra festival

PERA’S SEVENTH annual festival starts this Friday, July 29, offering visitors the chance to enjoy a feast of delicious regional dishes and a programme of excellent live entertainment.

Located at Pêra’s sports ground, just behind the EN125, the event is held over three separate weekends (July 29-31, August 5-7 and August 19-21) with gates opening at 8pm daily. Entrance to the event costs just three euros and the money raised will help support the building of an old people’s home and hospice in the town.

The line up for the entertainment boasts some of Portugal’s most popular musical artists including Rui Bandeira, winner of the RTP television song festival, Nova Era, Romana and Graciano Saga, among others.

Reasonably priced traditional dishes, such as grilled mackerel, freshly cooked prawns, seafood stew and chicken with rice, will be served, and the bars, which are open all evening, will be serving jugs of Sangria. Continuing until 2am every night, Pêra’s Arraial do Petisco 2005 offers a fantastic excuse to eat, drink and be merry – don’t miss it!
