Baptista Supermercado has been a family-run business since 1966 and has always aimed to sell the best of what the Algarve region can offer.
Situated in Praia da Luz, it is a favourite supermarket among tourists and residents as there is a variety of national and foreign products.
In the supermarket, a big selection of delicatessen, dairy products, bakery, butchery and an excellent international and local wine selection can be found.
Weary customers can be rejuvenated at the popular cafe serving coffee and pastries and there is also a tobacco and newspaper shop.
In May, the company expanded with the Baptista Market, just metres away from the supermarket, selling the freshest products of the day including fish and seafood, as well as jam and sweets.
Rui Baptista, managing partner of Baptista supermarket, said: “Each Saturday morning, we have a cooking demonstration by professional chef Pedro Mendes. Clients can watch him prepare regional dishes with a modern twist as well as taste them and a selected wine for accompaniment.”
He added: “We have been in this business for around 40 years now and we aim to offer our customers the best of what the region has to offer as well as a variety of international products.”
